How to Log In To Your WordPress Site

Getting into your WordPress admin area is a two-step process: first you need to find your login page, then you’ll enter your credentials to actually log in.

Logging in to WordPress is pretty fundamental to the whole editing experience. But I’ve always found it a little confusing and complicated, if I’m honest. I’ve been at this so long that I now have an easy time finding the login page on any WordPress site.

But if you’re struggling to log into your WordPress site, here’s how to both find your login page and actually get logged in.

Finding Your WordPress Login Page

Method 1: Add /wp-admin to Your Site URL

The most reliable way to access your WordPress login is to add /wp-admin to the end of your site’s web address. For example, if your site is yoursite.com, you’d go to yoursite.com/wp-admin in your browser.

Method 2: Add /wp-login.php to Your Site URL

Alternatively, you can add /wp-login.php to your site’s URL. Using the same example, you’d visit yoursite.com/wp-login.php. This takes you directly to the login form.

Method 3: Look for a Login Link on Your Site

Many WordPress sites include a “Login” or “Admin” link somewhere on the site – often in the footer, sidebar, or main navigation menu. This is especially common on business sites or blogs where the owners want easy access to their admin area.

What to Do If None of These Work

If you’re still having trouble accessing your login page, your site might be using a security plugin that changes the default login URL, or there could be a technical issue with your hosting. In these cases, contact your web developer or hosting provider for assistance.

Actually Logging In

Once you’ve found your login page, you’ll see a simple form with two fields:

  1. Enter your username or email address in the first field.
  2. Enter your password in the second field. Make sure to type it exactly as you set it up. Passwords are case-sensitive.
  3. Click the “Log In” button to access your WordPress admin dashboard.

If you can’t remember your password, click the “Lost your password?” link below the login form. WordPress will send you an email with instructions to reset it.

Once you successfully log in, bookmark the login page – you’ll be visiting it regularly as you manage your WordPress site.

Yay! 🎉 You made it to the end of the article!

Thank you for the information sir, does this still work for you? It doesn’t work for me anymore…the only information online is for some BLUEHOST organization where I have to have my account at WordPress open to do anything to get access through the Bluehost site…if that would even work. For over 3 months I’ve been blocked from the administration account payment section of my WordPress.com account. Others sent emessages of hassles, now I can’t even post in a good way having to use the crappy autopost and I can’t get my money back stolen because of WordPress auto thievery when I had a manual payment method setup. They took money from me 21 days before renewal… I’m adding my site that’s free if I get it back again, sorry.
