Terms & Conditions

The promoter of this contest is Vertigo Studio SA, whose registered office is at 20 Povernei Street, 4th Floor, Flat no. 9 010641 Bucharest, Romania.

1. Eligibility

The contest is open to all individuals, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic or identity.

There is no entry fee to participate in this contest.

The contest organizers or anyone else connected with the contest, judges, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate in the contest.

Participants may not collaborate with any other person to submit an entry.

Only online entries submitted through the designated contest platform will be accepted.

The two winners of cash prizes will need to provide a bank or PayPal account for receiving their prize. Other methods of payment are not accepted (Western Union).

By participating in the contest, each participant agrees to be bound by these “Terms and Conditions,” the decisions of the judges, and all applicable laws and regulations.

2. Entry requirements

Contest Timeline:

  • March 27th – Submission form opens
  • April 16th – The competition closes
  • April 21st – Finalists are announced
  • April 21st – Judging by public vote starts
  • April 27th – Judging by public vote ends
  • April 28th – Contest winners are announced

No entries will be accepted after the entry submission date which is April 16th.

More than one entry is allowed, but only one project entry will be selected as Finalist per participant in case several qualify in the top 10. To enter the contest, participants must create an educational website for kids using WordPress, following the requirements listed on the contest landing page.

Participants must also record a 15-minute video screen recording of building the website in just 15 minutes and upload it to any platform that can be accessed by the promoter.

Participants must provide the URL of the website and complete the submission form on the contest landing page, including their name, email, tools used for creating the website, and a list of stock images used along with attribution information.

All entries must be the original work of the participant, and the participant must have obtained all necessary permissions for any third-party content used in their entry. Entries must not contain any offensive, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate material.

Entry deliverables:

  1. Completed WordPress website: a functional WordPress website that meets the requirements outlined on the contest landing page.
  2. The video recording of maximum 15 minutes of designing the website.
  3. List of pre-made themes and plugins used: submit a list of the tools used for creating the website.
  4. List of stock images used: submit a list of the stock images used, along with attribution information.

The promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these terms and conditions, or that breaches any applicable laws or regulations.

The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the contest, and these terms and conditions, without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God, or any actual or anticipated breach.

3. Prizes

1st Prize is called the Winner. The top-rated project will win the grand prize of $1000 along with access to Themeisle’s premium themes and plugins yearly subscription. Plus, the winning website will be showcased on our contest page for all to see.

2nd Prize is called the People’s Choice Award – The most-voted project will receive $500 as well as access to Themeisle’s premium themes and plugins yearly subscription. If this is the same as the Winner project, the prize goes to the second-most-voted project.

The top 10 rated projects are called the Finalists. Finalists will receive access to Themeisle’s premium themes and plugins yearly subscription worth $199.

Payment of the prize. The awarded prizes will be paid via wire transfer or PayPal accounts. Other methods of payment are not accepted (Western Union).

4. Winner selection and notification

The Winner will be determined based on a combination of the judges’ average score and public voting.

Judges voting phase: each entry is scored on a 1-10 scale. An average is calculated per each entry.

The best 10-rated projects (the Finalists) are published on the website and enter the public voting phase.

The judging criteria:

  1. Design and aesthetics: Is the website visually appealing and well-designed? Does it have a clear and consistent layout? Are the color scheme and typography appropriate for the website’s purpose?
  2. User experience and functionality: Is the website easy to navigate and user-friendly? Are the menus and buttons clear and easy to understand? Are the forms and interactive elements functioning properly?
  3. Creativity and innovation: Does the website show creativity in its design and functionality? Does it stand out from other websites in its niche?
  4. Overall impression: What is the overall impression of the website? Does it meet the objectives and requirements of the contest? Would the website be successful in its intended purpose?

Public voting phase: voters will need to sign up and can only vote for one favorite project. Only one vote is allowed per voter.

More than one entry is allowed, but only one project entry will be selected per participant. Only the best entry will be selected for the voting phase.

The Winner will be decided using the following formula where AJ is the Average Judges’ score and Pv is the total number of public votes.

We’re giving more weight to the judges’ score (70%) than to the public voting score (30%).

Weighted Average Score = (0,7 × AJ) + (0,3 × Pv)

AJ – average Judges score

Pv – number of public votes

Example: If project A received a judges’ score of 9.5 and 100 public votes, the weighted average score would be:

(0.7 × 9.5) + (0.3 × 100) = 36.5

The 10 Finalists will be informed by email, and their projects will be featured on the contest page on the 21st of April.

The Winner and The People’s Choice Award will be informed by email and announced on the contest page on April 28th.

The People’s Choice Award is the project with the most valid votes from the public. If this is the same as the Winner project, the prize goes to the second-most-voted project.

A vote is considered valid only if it originates from an IP address that has generated 20 or fewer votes. Any votes exceeding this limit from the same IP address will be deemed invalid and will not be included in the total number of votes for the corresponding entry.

In case there are less than 10 valid entries, the contest terms change as follows:

  1. The Public Voting phase is removed along with the People’s Choice Award.
  2. The Winner is selected by judging using the criteria listed on the site. Each entry is scored on a 1-10 scale. An average is calculated for each entry, and the entry with the highest average score is considered the Winner of the contest.
  3. The Contest Timeline changes to:
  • March 27th – Submission form opens
  • April 16th – The competition closes for submissions
  • April 21st – Contest winners are announced.

4. The remaining qualified entries are declared Finalists.

5. Intellectual property rights

We respect and value the intellectual property rights of our users, and we encourage them to do the same. You retain the copyright to your work submitted to us.
