Easily Add Tables to Posts with TinyMCE Advanced

For those who don’t know, TinyMCE is the technology that under-pins WordPress’s “Visual” editing experience. And if you enjoy that, but wish it had more features, then the plugin TinyMCE Advanced is definitely for you. TinyMCE Advanced gives you lots of features: a menu-bar like you’re probably used to on your computer, the ability to search-and-replace in the editor, the ability to add tables to your posts.

There are other plugins that work for tables, but for a need of basic tables for your posts, I really appreciate the simplicity and added power of TinyMCE Advanced. The plugin’s table feature lacks some of the power and flexibility of other table plugins I’ve tried, but it’s unparalleled in its seamlessness and ease-of-use. The table feature in it is a lot like the one you’ll know from Microsoft Word (or your other favorite Word-like word processor) so it’ll be familiar for many less-expert WordPress users in a way most other table plugins I’ve used are certainly not.

Here’s the video of installing and using the plugin:

Add Amazing Features to WordPress Visual Editing

  1. Go to “Plugins > Add New“.
  2. Search for “TinyMCE Advanced“. Install and Activate the plugin from the WordPress repository.
  3. Go back to your post editing screen. See the new features of TinyMCE.
  4. To insert a table, go to “Table” in the menu bar, and select the size of the table you want to add. Now add content to your table.

Tables aren’t all that TinyMCE Advanced can do, but they’re a great feature it has. Definitely give it a try, and let us know what other features you love from this plugin in the comments. 🙂
