I Sincerely Love All-in-One WP Migration

This plugin continues to be a dream come true: It migrates a site’s database and file structure, without fail, in two clicks plus a permalink reset. If you’ve ever struggled to migrate a WordPress install (or been afraid to pay tons of money for a premium solution), this will revolutionize WordPress for you.

  • How does it differ from the WP Duplicator plugin? https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

In all honesty – I myself have run into problems using the Duplicator on large sites (> 10,000 products in WooCommerce) and had to resort to using Updraft Plus which has never failed me so far.

Thanks for those two suggestions, Dave. Never tried those plugins, but they both sound like good options as well. From a quick glance, WP Duplicator looks more oriented toward advanced users than All-In-One—which I typically use as a simple “Export”-“Import” without even changing any settings. I also think the Migrator plugin is less integrated than either of the others as a backup (as opposed to migration) solution, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go in that direction.

What solution are you using for local wordpress? I am looking for something easy like DesktopServer but with more than 3 WP installs and free. MAMP and XAMP look too complicated. Any suggestions?

I personally (this is Fred) use Windows and WAMP. I’ve found it quite simple to get up and running.

Never tried MAMP, but I’d suggest just giving it a try—you might be pleasantly surprised!

I would have to totally agree. I have had a couple very minor issues after about 40 uses but for the most part this plugin is just too easy. Export – Import – Done.
