ASCII WordPress Template Hierarchy
I talked briefly to John Blackbourn at WordCamp US about WPHierarchy.com. One of the struggles we’re having with the site is that it’s kind of hard to for me (as a non-designer) to reflow the diagram to work well on mobile. John offered some good potential solutions to that from a more coherent design perspective, which I very much appreciated.
He also, however, told me about his intentionally-undesigned solution. It’s a very simple and plain ASCII (AKA plain-text) illustration of most of the template hierarchy. It’s great. I hope in the next round of updates I make to the site itself I can figure out a way to incorporate it. Until then, you’ll just have to settle for watching John’s Gist for changes. Which isn’t so bad, really.
