What to look for in a free one-page WordPress theme
When on a hunt for some top quality, best free one-page WordPress themes, it’s good to look for specific characteristics that separate the truly top-of-the-line themes from the second tier (and further). Chiefly, those are:
- Design versatility
- You want to make sure that your one-page WordPress theme allows you to switch some of the sections on the main page and customize how they look and behave. At the very least, you want to be able to realign the elements, change the images, the texts and the details about them (sizes, layouts, etc.).
- Mobile optimization
- A quality one-page WordPress theme needs to look good on mobile devices. It just so happens that more people access the web via mobile than via desktop nowadays. Mobile optimization is something you cannot afford to ignore, or you risk alienating the majority of your potential visitors.
- Extra features
- What else do you need apart from the one-page design? Are there any specific features you’d like to see? Make sure the theme has those – getting them later on can prove troublesome.
- Speed and load time
- A good one-page WordPress theme should begin loading very quickly. You just don’t want to force the visitor to wait before they can see the first elements on the page. See the demo of the theme you’re considering and make sure that the information above the fold loads instantly.
- SEO-ready
- Quality themes are all about making it easier for people to find your site via Google. Ideally, you want your WordPress theme to list some SEO-related features that make on-page optimizations easier to do.
- User reviews
- Reviews by other users are always a good indicator how a given free WordPress theme performs in real life. If a lot of people enjoy the theme, you can assume that you’re probably going to enjoy it as well.
Hello so can I use more than one theme together. For example one of the theme is a landing page that redirects to an even larger multi page theme??
To the best of my knowledge this is not possible. What is possible is having a different theme on a subdomain from the one on the domain. So in the website on domain abc.com you could insert a link that redirects to xyz.abc.com, which would have a completely different theme.
Good thems
