A Look Around WordPress 2.8, Beta 1

WordPress 2.8 beta one was released just the other day, and after 2.7′s big overhaul, you weren’t expecting any big changes were you? You were? Sorry. There aren’t many. But there are some, and they’re quite neat changes too. This post takes a poke around the new beta.
Theme installer
The new theme installer looks like a great idea, allowing you to easily install any of the themes from the themes directory or upload one in .zip format. Does it work? Is it any faster? Lets find out. Installing my theme, NomeBlog via FTP took one minute and nince seconds (that includes finding the thing!). Uploading the .zip file through the new uploader took fifteen seconds. So yeah. It’s quicker. Other new features include it being easier to install/preview/delete themes and.. wait for it… syntax highlighting in the theme/plugins editor!
Other new features
Erm. Nothing else that’s particularly big, but some useful little fixes, for example you can save posts by pressing CTRL and S, post authors won’t be notified of their own comments, and you can choose your own timezone. Full list here.
And finally
Anything you’re particularly excitied about? Leave a comment below.

the syntax highlighting feature is really good, especially when you want to do minor changes remotely.
